Sir Mark Rowley emphasized that cuts to the Metropolitan Police will have 'a seriously detrimental impact' on their capacity to tackle serious violence and organized crime.
He stated that the financial pressures faced by the Metropolitan Police are not simply due to this year's budget but 'a cumulative impact of a decade or more'.
Rowley warned that they cannot wait for the final budget settlement, saying, 'or it will not be possible to achieve the reductions without uncontrolled consequences'.
While aiming to avoid redundancies, Sir Mark acknowledged, 'but can't guarantee we'll avoid them entirely', reflecting the serious financial challenges ahead.
