Surrey Docks Farm has issued a warning to the public against leaving pets outside after a severe incident where abandoned animals were left in a travel bag, only to be killed by foxes who arrived shortly after.
The farm explained, 'We are not a rehoming centre, but please, please, don't dump animals in unsuitable containers unattended in the night.' This emphasizes the responsibility owners have towards their pets.
As the farm noted, 'Taking on an animal is a big responsibility,' highlighting the increasing number of calls from parents wanting to abandon pets after their children lose interest.
With animal welfare organizations overwhelmed by abandoned pets, the farm pleaded, 'In this case, please contact a rescue centre first,' underlining the critical need for proper rehoming practices.
