British Transport Police confirmed that a person was hit by a train near Bushey station, leading to significant rail disruption and emergency services response.
A spokesperson for BTP stated, "Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Major disruptions began shortly after noon, with all lines between Euston and Watford Junction initially closed, leading to cancellations and delays of up to 90 minutes.
Avanti West Coast commented on the reduced service to London Euston, noting, "Services that we are able to operate are expected to be extremely busy."
