As soon as he found out it was a tumour, he decided it was something he could overcome and he would be able to walk again, said Miriam Fine-Goulden. Her son Harry, a sporty 10-year-old who loves football and playing with his twin brother, suddenly woke up one morning paralyzed from the chest down due to a rare spinal tumour. When he first learned he wasn't going to be able to walk again, she was initially resigned, thinking this was Harry's new life.
Harry's ordeal began with pain in the back of his neck, which led to a rapid decline. After a visit to A&E at Evelina London Children's Hospital, an urgent MRI scan revealed a walnut-sized tumour on his spine causing paralysis. At that moment they were informed he may 'never walk again.' His determination emerged after the diagnosis, leading to an emergency operation at King's College Hospital to remove the blood clot and tumor.
