More people back axing maternity unit at Royal Free than at Whittington
Briefly

NHS North Central London Integrated Care System's plan to close the Royal Free neonatal unit is favored by over two-thirds of public respondents, mainly focusing on resource efficiency.
Despite overall public support for closing the Royal Free unit, NHS staff and service users showed significant dissent, with only 50% of staff supporting the change and just a quarter of service users agreeing.
Dr. Jo Sauvage stated, 'We will now reflect on what we have heard, as well as other evidence, as we work towards making a final decision early next year,' emphasizing the importance of the consultation feedback.
The decision to reduce neonatal units arises from a notable drop in births and aims to improve resource allocation, highlighted by the closure of the Edgware birth centre.
