Mapped: The hunt for escaped prisoner Daniel Khalife before arrest 45 minutes away
Briefly

Daniel Abed Khalife, a former soldier, was imprisoned after escaping from HMP Wandsworth by clinging to a food truck. His escape lasted about four days, leading to a nationwide manhunt that included over 150 police officers. Despite earlier attempts to orchestrate a fake escape in hopes of being reassigned to a high-security unit, Khalife ultimately carried out a real escape, which he later admitted during his trial. He was arrested on a canal path, convicted of serious charges including those under the Official Secrets Act, and sentenced to over 14 years in prison.
Khalife snuck out of HMP Wandsworth by clinging onto the bottom of a food catering truck using a sling made from kitchen trousers, evading capture for nearly four days.
After a nationally publicized manhunt involving over 150 officers, Khalife was caught on the Thames river’s canal path approximately 75 hours after his escape.
