Gratwick discussed harming children for sexual pleasure, arranging to pay a Romanian mother to allow him to rape her daughter, and advising others on how to drug children to abuse them. He possessed more than 1,300 photographs and videos of children being abused. Gratwick previously served as a police informer who infiltrated environmental and animal rights protests for six years, posing as an activist while secretly passing information to police, and spied on campaigns including the Newbury bypass protest.
