Major emergency search under way after reports of person in River Thames near Wandsworth

A significant search operation is underway in south-west London after reports of a person in the River Thames near Eastfields Avenue in Wandsworth. Emergency services, including the RNLI, police, and fire brigades, arrived on the scene at around 12:30 pm. Multiple eyewitnesses have noted the presence of helicopters and fire engines as crews perform systematic searches for the individual. Although extensive efforts were made, including the deployment of a fire boat, no person has been located, and the police have taken over the incident's management after fire services concluded their operations.
"I was in Hammersmith an hour ago and the RNLI were heading that way with Blue lights on," one local resident wrote on social media.
"The Brigade responded to reports of a person in the water near the mouth of Bell Lane Creek, Wandsworth. Crews attended alongside units from the RNLI, London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police Service."
"The Brigade was notified about the incident at 1244, and operations for firefighters concluded at 1439. Responsibility for the incident was left with the police."
