London commuters are bracing for yet more travel chaos on Monday because of a train driver strike on some of the busiest routes in and out of the capital. Passengers are being warned to expect significant disruption to rail services, with little or no services across large areas of the network.
ASLEF strike impacts Southern, Southeastern, South Western Railway, Thameslink, Gatwick Express, and Great Northern services. The strike is due to drivers not receiving a pay rise in five years, with warnings of more walkouts in the future.
Mick Whelan of ASLEF mentioned the potential for future disputes over pay rises, indicating a deadlock in negotiations with train companies. The Rail Delivery Group expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the strike.
