The Charity Commission reprimanded Chabad Lubavitch Centres for unlawfully fundraising for a foreign soldier, underlining that it mismanaged charity resources and breached legal trust.
Helen Earner, Director for Regulatory Services at the Charity Commission, emphasized that 'It is not lawful, or acceptable, for a charity to raise funds to support a soldier of a foreign military.'
The fundraising campaign garnered around 2,280, with funds controversially allocated to both an individual soldier and non-lethal military equipment, infringing purpose regulations.
Following an investigation triggered by 180 complaints, the Commission concluded the charity's actions contradicted its supposed objectives of advancing religious practices and relieving poverty.
