London boroughs with the highest number of drug-related deaths revealed in data

The data from the Office of National Statistics highlights a troubling trend of rising drug-related deaths in London, showcasing a doubling of drug-poisoning death rates since 2012.

Southwark had the highest number of drug-related deaths in 2023 at 22, a stark increase from past years, indicating a worrying trend within the borough.

Green Party's Zoe Garbett emphasized, 'Every drug death is preventable. Deaths are still rising, drugs are still readily available, and the supply is more toxic.'

The overall drug-poisoning death rate increased from 84.4 deaths per million in 2022 to 93.0 deaths per million in 2023, illustrating a significant public health crisis.
