Leyton tube station upgrade to start this month
Briefly

Leyton tube station is scheduled for a significant upgrade starting in February 2025 to address overcrowding and improve facilities. The entrance, currently inadequate and often overcrowded, will see the ticket office expanded to over three times its current size and include additional features such as two lifts and a new footbridge. The project, costing around £20 million, is partly funded by Waltham Forest Council and central government. The upgrade will not only alleviate current congestion but also prepare the station for increased traffic from new housing developments in the area, with completion expected by spring 2027.
