The Urban Ministry Project (UMP), initiated by Rev Donald Reeves at St Peter's, St Helier, aimed to rejuvenate the Church of England's mission in neglected urban areas by preparing clergy for inner-city ministry.
Students participating in UMP undertook a 'Plunge' experience, spending 48 hours in London with just 15 shillings, which challenged their resourcefulness and understanding of living in deprived conditions.
