This week marks a notable heat wave in the UK, with temperatures reaching 27C on Wednesday and peaking at 29C on Thursday. Meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey highlights a significant increase from the previous year's highs, which only reached 24C in April. Average April temperatures are typically much lower, but current predictions suggest local temperature records may be set although not national records. People are cautioned to be aware of high UV levels and pollen counts as they enjoy the warm weather.
It is a little bit of a moot point. Because we are probably going to be surpassing that essentially every day as we head towards Thursday, which is likely to be the peak of those temperatures.
Even if the national record doesn't go, there could well be some local sites that see one of their warmest April days on record.
