Emergency services were called to Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, just after 4.30am today following reports of a gas leak. Tenants were evacuated from a block of flats and waited at nearby St Paul's Church until they were let back in. They have now been allowed back to their homes, but have no gas for the day. Ambulance crews and a paramedic were sent to the scene but a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said there were 'no patients requiring care'.
Firefighters were called to support the Metropolitan Police Service at a gas leak in Petersfield Avenue in Romford. The brigade was called at 4.35am and the incident was over for firefighters at 5.57am. Police were spotted blocking the road off, although it is now reopened according to AA maps. The Recorder has contacted the Met to find out more information about the cause of the gas leak.
