A grass fire in Hornchurch, close to residential houses, prompted an emergency response with around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines. The fire began at 8.10pm, with flames visible from nearby homes, although no houses were damaged. Approximately eight hectares of grassland were destroyed, and firefighters used wildfire beaters to control the fire, which was fully contained by around 10.30pm. This incident marked the third grass fire on the same day in east London. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently ongoing.
