"The Flying Scotsman service is one of the most powerful names through a century of British railway travel. It is synonymous with speed, punctuality, regularity and quality."
"In its early years, it became famous for its simultaneous 10am departures from both London and Edinburgh, so bringing today's timetable much closer to that is a wonderful nod to its truly iconic heritage."
The Edinburgh-London Flying Scotsman service, originally created in 1862, will restore its 10:30am departure from King's Cross, reviving a historic timetable. This service, one of the oldest named railway services, has been an early morning service since 2011. The new schedule will bring both services closer to the original 10am departures. The service will feature an onboard Scottish-themed menu and will use an LNER Azuma train. The first departure is scheduled for May 18, 2026, with stops at York, Newcastle, and Edinburgh Waverley.
