Floral tributes laid for dedicated worker' who died after assault at Ilford station

Flowers have been laid to rest as Transport for London honours an Elizabeth line worker, Jorge Ortega, who died following an assault at Ilford station.

A message for Jorge Ortega by TfL stated: 'At 11am today, we will be observing a one-minute silence. This is in remembrance of our friend and colleague, Jorge Ortega, who sadly lost his life...'

In a GoFundMe page which has raised over 13,000 for his memorial fund, it was claimed that Jorge was only a couple of hours away from returning to his wife at home.

Rail union RMT expressed that Mr Ortega was one of its members, adding that it was deeply saddened by his death in a post on social media.
