An inquest into the death of Conor Dowers revealed that staff at the mental health trust failed to ensure his safety, leading to his suicide. The trust acknowledged the need for additional training following the incident.
Conor's struggles started during lockdown in 2020, and his parents were not informed why he was admitted to the mental health facility. He had climbed a crane prior to being hospitalized due to a drug-induced psychosis caused by cannabis.
Despite being allowed unsupervised outings with his girlfriend, Conor self-harmed leading to being denied a visit home for Christmas. His mother believes this decision played a significant role in his mental state.
