In one of the Artsdepot auditoriums, there's an adaptation of Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo's Child - it too marking a 20-year anniversary. The theatre is packed with school and nursery groups, young families and other local people singing and dancing along. Actor Hannah Mullen says: "You get to relate to the audience - they're so close and they're so willing to participate. I really enjoy having that relationship with the audience and what they give you."
Director Eva Sampson notes: 'It's not easy making new work. You need people saying, 'yes'... and 'how can we help'? This building really does that. And the way they welcome an audience is really special.' This sentiment underscores Artsdepot's commitment to supporting creativity and community.
CEO Monique Delatant emphasizes, 'We know our audience and are always making something for everyone.' This speaks to Artsdepot's strategy of inclusivity, essential for thriving amidst challenges.
