Council implements ice cream van ban on street
Briefly

Greenwich Council has passed a unanimous vote to prohibit ice cream sales on King William Walk, primarily for pedestrian safety and environmental health. Despite a previous High Court decision requiring a re-run consultation, the council maintained its stance against itinerant ice cream trading. Cllr Jackie Smith emphasized concerns regarding ‘unregulated trading’ and its impact on public safety and the historic character of the area. Business owners Paul St Hilaire Sr and Jr plan to appeal this latest ruling, citing their long-standing license since 2015 and lack of complaints against their business.
