Bayo Dosunmu, chief executive of Lambeth council, resigned after being charged with driving offenses, possession of a controlled drug, driving over the alcohol limit, and driving without insurance.
Dosunmu, who has been off work since his arrest in June, is set to appear in court on August 1st. Lambeth Council is planning to start the recruitment process for a new chief executive soon.
