Cockney influences found in Scotland, Australia and New Zealand, says expert

The cockney dialect has evolved, influenced by those migrating from East London to Essex, contributing to a new accent known as Estuary English, which has gained significant traction across the south-east and beyond.

Dr Amanda Cole notes that while young people in London increasingly adopt multicultural London English, cockney influences remain dominant, particularly in Essex, where accents are becoming more cockney-like, although this is now referred to as Estuary English.
