Car drivers will have to pay up to 4 to use Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels

Drivers will be charged up to £4 daily to use the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels, implementing fees for the first time on a historic crossing.

TfL states the charges apply from 6 am to 10 pm daily and will enhance traffic flow, reducing journey times by up to 20 minutes during peak hours.

Motorcyclists benefit from a lower charge of £2.50 during peak times, while off-peak users must enroll in TfL’s auto-pay scheme to reduce their fees.

Residents in 12 qualifying boroughs can access half-price rates; however, a hefty £180 fine awaits non-payers, reducing to £90 within two weeks.
