Northwick Park Hospital received 20 million funding from NHS England last year after patients were being put in corridors due to overcrowding. The new 32-bed Acute Medical Unit aims to reduce A&E wait times and improve patient safety.
The new Acute Care Unit at Northwick Park Hospital, officially opened on July 30, has already handled over 1,000 admissions, with 45% discharged and the rest moved to long-stay beds.
Trust chief executive Pippa Nightingale emphasized the importance of the new unit to manage hospital flow effectively and provide high-quality care due to the hospital being one of the biggest and busiest A&Es in the country.
Cllr Ketan Sheth praised the addition of new beds at Northwick Park Hospital as great news for patients, recognizing the efforts of Trust CEO Pippa Nightingale and her team in addressing overcrowding challenges.
