Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell to leave club in shock exit
Briefly

Newcastle United has announced that Paul Mitchell, their sporting director, will depart the club at the end of June, just one year after joining. His exit comes alongside that of CEO Darren Eales, who leaves for health reasons. In a statement, Mitchell expressed gratitude towards his colleagues and highlighted the club's successful season, which included winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League. Both Mitchell and Newcastle's board expressed mutual respect and best wishes for future endeavors.
I'd like to thank everyone at Newcastle United for their support over the last year, including Eddie Howe, Becky Langley, the players, staff, owners and fans, Mitchell said. It has been an honour to be part of the club and to work with some incredible people.
Mitchell leaves at the end of a successful campaign during which the club won its first major domestic trophy for 70 years by beating Liverpool in the final of the Carabao Cup and qualified for next season's Champions League.
