Crystal Palace given green light to expand training ground with new facilities
Briefly

Crystal Palace Football Club has received authorization to expand its training ground on Copers Cope Road in Beckenham. The plans involve enlarging the gym and changing facilities and constructing a new grounds maintenance building. Despite some local opposition, approval was granted based on the project’s alignment with sporting use. The plan includes demolishing the current maintenance building, water tanks, and silos, alongside creating additional parking and multi-storey extensions. The committee emphasized the need to concentrate on material planning aspects, acknowledging the decision was influenced by specific circumstances in favor of the proposal.
Councillor Alexa Michael, chairman of the Development Control Committee, stated, "We were persuaded by the very special circumstances in support of this relatively modest proposal, which is also in keeping with principles established in previous planning decisions."
