Chris Coons was asked why Jill Biden did not intervene during the debate. Coons said the debate performance was not a topic people were raising with him in Delaware. He instead pointed to questions about gas prices, Trump’s tariffs, and insecurity tied to an unresolved war in Iran. He also contrasted his view with examples of Trump not answering questions and falling asleep in meetings.

I see regular incidents where President Trump falls asleep in meetings in the middle of the day, makes no sense in answering questions; and, frankly, what I think the average Delawarean wants to hear is what are we going to do to lower their costs and what are we going to do to avoid future pointless wars overseas."
