Swiss Syrian left-wing activist and scholar Joseph Daher explains how civil society is attempting to rebuild democracy through "struggle from below," and how that could unleash popular support for Palestine.
"Israel wanted a weak Assad and is not happy with the fall of this regime," says Daher. "A democratization process in the Middle East is the biggest threat for Israel."
In northeast Syria, more than 100,000 people have been displaced due to fighting between Turkish-backed forces and U.S.-backed Kurdish forces.
