US Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate in this year's presidential election. Harris now leads or matches former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump in most national and swing state polls.
Of the $310 million raised in July, $200m was donated in the week after Harris's candidacy was announced. Months of sluggish polling under Biden have given way to surges; her campaign has pulled in record sums of money.
Trump and his Republican colleagues have struggled to formulate a coherent message against Harris. Despite some trying to shift blame for Biden policies, Trump himself caused controversy by accusing Harris of 'turning black.'
