Navarro is a former trade adviser to Trump and in March became the first former White House official ever jailed for contempt of Congress. He was sentenced to four months in prison for refusing to cooperate with the House January 6 committee investigating the insurrection at the US Capitol in 2021 when extremists wanted to overturn Trump's defeat by Joe Biden in the presidential election.
