According to a survey in Sunday's Des Moines Register from renowned pollster Ann Selzer, Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris by just 4 points in the state, 47-43.
Back in June, when President Joe Biden was still in the race, Trump had a commanding 18-point lead, according to the same poll.
The new poll can only be considered a warning sign for the Trump campaign given the former president won the state by strong margins in both 2016 and 2020.
The Selzer poll highlighted a dramatic divide between men and women's preferences in the race, with men supporting Trump by a 59-32 margin and women breaking for Harris 53-36.
