I Was a Writer for The Handmaid's Tale. I Can't Stop Thinking About Those J.D. Vance Sperm Cups.

As a form of protest, it was simultaneously cruel, disgusting, and confusing, so I was relieved to see later reporting cast a fair amount of doubt on the idea that 'carrying a Vance sperm cup at a Trump rally' was an organically occurring MAGA trend.
However, the maybe-fake cups get at a genuine issue. This is an election about, among other things, what it means to be a man—and one thing that defines manhood is (literal) balls.
This election is poised to showcase the biggest partisan gender gap in history. Feminist commentators have thrilled to the emergent 'big dad energy' of Walz and Doug Emhoff.
Other pundits have defended the 'neotraditional' masculinity offered by Vance and fellow-traveling Republicans, indicating the strong contrasting views on masculinity influencing voters this election.
