At least 166 people have died from Hurricane Helene, many are still missing, and over 1 million remain without power as rescue efforts continue.
Nearly 1.3 million people were without power in several southeastern states, including over 373,000 in Georgia, nearly 494,000 in South Carolina, and more than 347,000 in North Carolina.
In Asheville, North Carolina, around 100,000 people were without running water, prompting residents to boil water or wash dishes in creeks.
Biden and lawmakers suggested contacting Congress for additional disaster relief funding, but it seems unlikely, as Congress is currently on recess.
