The humanitarian situation in Gaza has escalated drastically following recent conflict, resulting in a death toll surpassing 60,000 Palestinians, with ongoing rescue efforts uncovering more bodies. Gaza Government Information Office head Salama Maarouf reported that 14,222 individuals are still believed trapped under rubble. Many fatalities remain uncounted due to infrastructural collapse. Among the deceased is renowned activist Refaat Alareer, whose body was recovered amid the grief of his loved ones. Reports indicate that over 800 infants have fallen victim to the violence, emphasizing the urgent humanitarian crisis in the region.
Gaza officials have added thousands of names to the death toll from Israel's genocide, bringing the total to over 60,000 Palestinians as rescuers scour the Gaza Strip for bodies.
According to Maarouf, only 76 percent of those killed in the genocide have been brought to medical centers, which is the primary way that officials were counting deaths.
The official death toll has risen to 61,709, including 17,881 children, with at least 111,588 wounded, and has already risen by hundreds since the ceasefire.
'Dear friends of Refaat Alareer around the world, I want to share with you that after a long and painful search we have finally found Dr. Refaat Alareer's body,' Alnabih said.
