DOGE Member Resigns After Reports Expose Social Media Posts Promoting Racism and Eugenics
Briefly

Marko Elez, a member of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), resigned following reports revealing his racist social media posts. Elez, who had access to top-secret Treasury Department systems, advocated for repealing the Civil Rights Act and promoting eugenic immigration policies. His comments included disturbing calls for violence and prejudice, demonstrating a concerning attitude within the tech sector. The White House responded promptly to the scandal, affirming that Elez's resignation was a direct consequence of his harmful statements. This incident raises important discussions about the influence of such views in government-affiliated roles.
On Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported on several now-deleted posts from X account @nullllptr, which reportedly belonged to Elez. Those posts included calls to repeal the 1964 Civil Rights Act, a demand for the U.S. to adopt a 'eugenic immigration policy,' and a call to 'normalize Indian hate' within the tech sector, among other bigoted musings.
Elez’s remarks revealed a troubling ideology within the tech sector, with lines like 'You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,' highlighting deep-rooted prejudice.
When asked about the texts, the White House said that Elez immediately offered his resignation from DOGE, reflecting the severity of his comments.
Marko Elez has worked for Musk's companies in other staff roles before, and his role at DOGE granted him direct access to the Treasury Department's systems.
