In his opinion piece entitled, "It's time for Joe Biden to pass the torch," Casten said that he believes Biden will lose the general election. Though he began the piece by praising Biden's record and character, Casten argued that the president is no longer fit for the job.
Representatives Jared Huffman of California, Marc Veasey of Texas, Chuy Garcia of Illinois, and Mark Pocan of Wisconsin wrote a joint letter to Biden that also called on him to "pass the torch to a new generation of Democratic leaders." They expressed admiration for Biden's record before commenting on the importance of beating Donald Trump.
These perceptions may not be fair, they wrote, but we cannot move this country forward another four years under your leadership. In this critical moment, we need deep trust and clarity in our president.
