""sit around for a year on the dole""
""I have to say, that was pretty stressful,""
Caroline O'Connell asked whether she was expected to "sit around for a year on the dole" under a non-compete clause after being unfairly dismissed from a €275,000-plus-bonus role at an arm of the international translation and localisation group Lionbridge. She discovered via a company newsletter that she was being demoted from her position as managing director after 24 years with the multinational. She described learning of the demotion in that way as "pretty stressful." She raised these matters with the Workplace Relations Commission while contesting the dismissal and the non-compete's impact on her employment prospects.
