Mr Justice Brian Cregan ruled that Enoch Burke's transfer from Mountjoy Prison in Dublin to Castlerea Prison in County Roscommon was lawful. Burke, an anti-transgender schoolteacher, had challenged the transfer, arguing that the original court order committing him to prison specifically named Mountjoy as his place of detention until he purges his contempt of court. The judge rejected these claims, determining that the transfer proceeded lawfully despite Burke's objections based on concerns regarding his behaviour while imprisoned.
