The opportunity is there now [but] they may be having some reservations about being replaced with Trump's brand of Republican judicial nominee.
Six of the circuit's 17 judges are eligible to take senior status, and four of them were nominated by Republican presidents.
These judges are considered to be much more moderate than the six who joined the court during Trump's first term.
Daniel Walters, a professor at Texas A&M University School of Law, commented on the potential impact of judicial nominations under President-elect Trump's second term.
