A JPMorgan banker filed a lawsuit in New York Supreme Court denying allegations of sexual abuse and racial discrimination made by a former colleague. The claims were described as invented and part of a broader pattern of knowingly false, deeply offensive accusations advanced for personal gain. The filing said the accusations aimed to ruin her reputation and extort millions of dollars from her and JPMorgan. After the accuser raised allegations internally, she said her life became a daily living nightmare and she sought mental health treatment for severe emotional distress. She sought compensation for economic damages and for emotional distress, personal dignity, humiliation, and mental anguish. JPMorgan stated it fully supports her and believes the allegations lack merit.
"In addition to compensation for economic damages, Hajdini is also seeking damages for "emotional distress, personal dignity, humiliation," and "mental anguish," among other things. "Lorna will let her counterclaims speak for themselves," Hajdini's lawyers said in a statement. JPMorgan has stood behind Hajdini, who joined the bank in 2011, throughout the ordeal."
