She showed two vehicles damaged by the chase, and, prefacing it with "allegedly," described one vehicle striking another that had been parked on the street with a pregnant woman inside. "A parent was dropping their child off at school in West Oakland this morning," Fife said. "They were chased by masked men in an SUV that caused this collision.""
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in West Oakland led to a vehicle collision on the 800 block of 31st Street shortly before 10:00 a.m. An outside law enforcement agency attempted to contact a vehicle involved in its investigation, and that vehicle later collided with an uninvolved vehicle. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed an investigation near Hoover Elementary School but said ICE did not go on campus or target the school. DHS reported the pursued driver refused to stop, drove at extremely high speed, collided with another vehicle and fled on foot. Councilmember Carroll Fife described a parked car struck with a pregnant woman inside and said residents surrounded the ICE vehicle at the scene.
