Jenia Resha Belt, 33, was arrested for allegedly striking and killing 18-year-old Loyola High School senior Braun Levi while driving on a suspended license. Previously charged with DUI and related offenses, her license had been suspended since January 2024 following an incident where she was found driving with excessive blood alcohol. Despite pleading no contest to a hit-and-run charge, the DUI-related charges were dismissed. Levi, a tennis star, was killed just weeks before his graduation, and Belt currently remains in custody without bail as the case unfolds.
Belt was arrested early Sunday after police said she struck 18-year-old Levi as he was walking with a friend in the 100 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard.
Belt was charged in the 2023 incident with driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and hit and run with property damage.
