Kellam Conover, 44, was an appellate attorney at King & Spalding's Washington, D.C., office and served as of counsel. He graduated from Stanford Law. He traveled to New Zealand to attempt a climb of the region's highest mountain. Conover and his guide, Thomas Vialletet, were roped together when they fell to their deaths. The cause of the fall remains unclear. Mark Jensen, managing partner of the firm's Washington office, described Conover as a gifted lawyer, respected colleague, and wonderful friend and said he would be sorely missed. Condolences were sent to Conover's family, friends, and colleagues.
