The University of Arkansas withdrew an offer for Emily Suski to become law school dean less than a week after announcing the hire. The law school said it "decided to go a different direction in filling the vacancy" without giving a specific reason. State Representative Nicole Clowney identified Suski as one of 17 academics who signed an amicus brief in a lawsuit challenging an anti-trans sports ban. Multiple state elected officials reportedly threatened to substantially reduce funding in response to Suski's signature. State Senate leader Bart Hester personally contacted university leaders to express strong disapproval.
