Two women's volleyball teams have recently refused to compete against San José State University in response to a transgender woman’s participation, with both teams aiming to protest inclusion policies.
Idaho Governor Brad Little expressed support for the decision of Boise State University, highlighting the need for fair competition and player safety for female athletes as outlined in the Defending Women's Sports Act.
Brooke Slusser, co-captain of the SJSU team and a plaintiff in the lawsuit against the NCAA, stated that the current policy discriminates against cisgender women and violates Title IX.
In her court filing, Slusser mentioned her discomfort and perceived safety concerns regarding her transgender teammate's participation, despite no records of injuries caused.
