Every Friday until the end of August, Sellwood Community House provides boxed dinners and picnic blankets for outdoor enjoyment with live music. The Waterfront Blues Festival features the city’s largest fireworks show and has been a beloved tradition for almost 40 years. Oaks Park will showcase its own fireworks display during its all-day celebration.
Kickstand Comedy intentionally scheduled its Comedy in the Park Pride event on the Fourth of July as a 'bold, joyful act of resistance in a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under attack across the country.' They invite folks to join them in 'reclaim[ing] 'freedom' with laughter, love, and community,' so grab your pals with a sense of humor and drop your blankets early—the free stand-up show has been known to draw crowds of 4,000 or more.
Every Friday through the end of August, Sellwood Community House is offering boxed dinners ($14 for adults, $7 for kids) and loaning picnic blankets for you to enjoy an evening outdoors accompanied by live music performances. This sounds like a perfect evening for solo self-care when you'd rather be outside than cook for yourself.
You’re already familiar with the Waterfront Blues Festival—the beloved fest has brought folksy acts to Tom McCall Waterfront Park for almost 40 years. If you're looking for a no-brainer Fourth of July activity, the festival also plays host to the city's largest fireworks show.
Further south, Oaks Park will showcase its own fireworks show at 'dusk' (around 9:45 pm) as part of their all-day 4th of July Spectacular.
