A review of nearly 100 studies found no harm to different-sex unions after states legalized marriage for same-sex couples. Marriage numbers jumped in those states, divorce rates didn't increase, and attitudes towards marriage improved.
Melanie A. Zaber, a coauthor of the report, stated that extending marriage rights to more couples, including same-sex couples, led to an increase in interest in marriage overall, with no evidence of a retreat from marriage.
