"Right now we have a situation where you have over 90 percent of youth under the age of 18 who have seen pornography," he continued. Michigan state representative Josh Schriver introduced House Bill 4938, the Anticorruption of Public Morals Act, proposing a statewide ban on online pornography. The bill would prohibit distribution of material depicting various sexual acts and any depiction, description, or simulation that portrays a disconnection between biological sex and gender, including use of attire, cosmetology, or prosthetics to represent another biological sex. Exceptions would allow material used for scientific or medical research, instruction, and peer-reviewed academic content. Schriver said pornography exposes minors, fuels sex trafficking through phones, and damages societal morality. The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
