Republicans are pushing hard for a bill that would disenfranchise trans voters - LGBTQ Nation

"The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, known as the SAVE America Act, would effectively prevent millions of Americans, including trans Americans and some same-sex married couples, from voting. Under the new bill, voters would be required to prove that they are citizens to register to vote. That means that they would have to produce a birth certificate or a passport."

"In what is clearly a feature of the bill and not a bug, many Americans don't have this identification. An estimated 146 million Americans don't have a passport (which costs $165 to obtain). Moreover, many Americans do not have a birth certificate that matches their current name."
